Elton Hall and Gardens

An extraordinary, romantic, part-Gothic historic house, near Peterborough, that has been in the Proby family for 400 years. The House guides will show you how every room contains treasures – magnificent furniture and fine paintings and there is a wonderful collection of porcelain and books. The library, one of the largest in private ownership, possesses such treasures as Henry VIII’s prayer book. Elton Hall stands proud in unspoilt landscaped parkland where a house has stood since the 12th century. The beautiful garden has been restored over the last forty years and has now come into its own, resulting in the award of the Historic Houses Judges’ Choice Garden of the Year in 2021. Mature hedging, topiary, glorious herbaceous borders, a sunken lily pond and an orangery garden delight visitors throughout the summer.Tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival are included and the restaurant is open for lunch.
