This is indeed a cavalcade of heritage rail with fabulous scenery added on as a bonus. You are staying in a hotel in the centre of Carlisle so plenty of opportunities to walk out and about. We have included, in your holiday, 2 classic railway journeys and coach travel to beautiful scenery in the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland.

At the Crown and Mitre Hotel, Carlisle they offer the perfect mix of Edwardian grandeur, beautiful original features including a real log fire and elegant sweeping staircase plus all the modern comforts of home to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It is ideally situated to see the Cathedral, Carlisle Castle and Tullie House Museum.
Hotel facilities include an indoor pool and jacuzzi. All bedrooms are ensuite and have TVs, hairdryers and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift.
