Margate

This Kent resort on the Isle of Thanet is one of the cinque ports where seaside holidays began. It has all the facilities that you would expect - a long promenade, a pier and a lido plus Dreamland (weekends only). Now open is the new international art gallery on the seafront. The beach (shared with nearby Cliftonville) is especially good.
