Explore the coastal area around Weymouth
A fine sandy beach and a lively harbour are in a resort sheltered by Portland Bill. A lot of redevelopment has taken place in recent times, and Weymouth is again becoming as popular as it was in the Regency period, as is the surrounding area where we will be visiting Corfe Castle and Swanage, Dorchester and other parts of Dorset.

Monday
South-westwards by way of Salisbury and Blandford Forum to Dorset, arriving Weymouth for 4 nights dinner, bed & breakfast.
DTuesday
Morning drive to Sherborne, a beautiful town full of medieval buildings, an Abbey and two castles. Then we make for Shaftesbury, the ancient hilltop town best known for Gold Hill and the ‘Hovis’ adverts. Back during the afternoon.
B, DWednesday
A morning in Weymouth and an afternoon spent in Dorchester. It has many associations with Thomas Hardy, many original manuscripts of his work are to be found in the County Museum. There is also an interesting military museum
B, DThursday
We take a trip along the Dorset coast. From Lulworth Cove we cross the Purbeck Hills, pass Corfe Castle and spend some time in Swanage, a Victorian family resort. When it is running, you may like to consider doing part of the journey on the restored Swanage Railway.

Part of the route this morning is in the New Forest, then we have a stop in Winchester before arriving home
