Enniscorthy, handily situated for both the ferry and our excursions, is a pleasant town in Co. Wexford. There is a compact shopping area full of family businesses and typical pubs. The nearby Wicklow Mountains have some splendid scenery for us on one day out: well-preserved, medieval Kilkenny will welcome us on another, while Waterford, New Ross and Tramore are on our third trip.

Day 1 Sunday
Drive to Pembroke for the ferry to Rosslare and transfer to Enniscorthy for 4 nights dinner, bed & breakfast at the Riverside Park Hotel.
DDay 2 Monday
Some free time in Enniscorthy in the morning before heading to Kilkenny. Here is a town with many original, medieval, features, an abbey and a cathedral. And there is a ‘tourist train’ to make it easier to see all the sights in the narrow streets.
B, DDay 3 Tuesday
Head north to the Wicklow Mountains. Just one of the charming places is Avoca, which became ultra-popular when it was used as the setting for ‘Ballykissangel’ (still regularly repeated on various satellite channels!). Other highlights in the area are the ‘Meeting of the Waters’, Rathdrum and Glendalough, a monastic site with a heritage centre
B, DDay 4 Wednesday
Featured on today’s excursion are New Ross, Waterford and Tramore. There are optional visits at New Ross to the Dunbrody Famine Ship and the Ros Tapestry and at Waterford to Waterford Crystal. Then to Ireland’s premier seaside resort in the ‘sunny south-east’, Tramore.
B, DDay 5 Thursday
Early breakfast before catching the morning ferry back to South Wales. Continue homewards, arriving back in the evening.
