Day 2 Tuesday

A day at leisure. Caernarfon is home to Wales' most famous castle and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mighty Caernarfon Castle commands the lion's share of attention, but the town's narrow streets and stylishly redeveloped waterfront also merit a visit. Plenty to see on your coach-free day

Day 3 Weds

After breakfast this morning we are going to Porthmadog - a busy harbour town with a good range of shops and attractions, The town’s Maritime Museum tells the story of the town’s rapid 19th-century growth into a thriving slate exporting and shipbuilding port for handsome three-masted schooners known as Western Ocean Yachts.After some time here exploring we make our way to Portmeirion. Nestled between the Dwyryd estuary and the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia), Portmeirion is a fabulous private village resort and gardens. Soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere in the village centre with a home-made gelato ice cream. Enjoy a cup of fine tea with riviera views on the terrace at The Hotel Portmeirion. Cast your mind back to The Prisoner – do you recognise the film set? Underfoot is a mix of pavement, cobbles and, if you want to explore the area, a little hilly.

B, D

Day 4 Thurs

This morning we head to the National Trust Bodnant Gardens where the gardens are beautiful throughout the year. Bodnant is a grade I listed historic garden of 80 acres including formal gardens, shrub-filled glades, meadows and woods, dells and water gardens. You will have time to admire and enjoy before we cross the Menai Strait and head to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch on the Isle of Anglesey for some refreshment and a little retail therapy, not forgetting a photo with the famous name in the background, before heading back to the hotel.

B, D

Day 5 Friday

After breakfast we will retrace our footsteps back home with appropriate stops en route arriving early evening.

B=Breakfast, D=Dinner

Although the castle is arguably Caernarfon’s biggest attraction for tourists, it is not the only thing in the town worth visiting. It is a bustling market town with a busy port, as well as magnificent views over the Menai Strait, the channel that separates Anglesey from mainland Wales.
