Christmas Markets Down South 2022
A weekend i the south of England at various Christmas Markets
This is a weekend with a top class resort and hotel in Bournemouth, plus visits to three Christmas Markets we’ve not previously featured in our holiday programmes. On the way, Friday, it will be Winchester, by the Cathedral. Southampton on Saturday is German style in the city centre, then on Sunday, before we drive home, it’s the very special Victorian Christmas Festival in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard.

Friday
Drive to historic Winchester and the first Christmas Market of the weekend. The Cathedral Inner Close is transformed with more than 90 beautifully decorated wooden chalets selling a wide range of gifts. The market features festive food court, crafts village, Nativity scene and more. Late afternoon continue to Bournemouth for two nights dinner, bed & breakfast at the Suncliff Hotel
DSaturday
Today we head via the New Forest into Southampton for the annual Christmas Festival which features a traditional German market with unique, individually designed alpine chalets with traditional German fayre, from bratwurst and waffles to gingerbread hearts and candied fruit. The market includes over 40 independent stallholders offering a range of hand-made, authentic gifts including wooden toys, clothing, jewellery as well as Christmas decorations.

Leave for Portsmouth and the Victorian Christmas Festival at the Historic Dockyard. Admission is included. There are expected to be at least 120 stalls ranging from food and drink through trinkets and decoration to hand-crafted goods of the highest quality. Look out for many classic characters in the snowy streets – even Queen Victoria may be in attendance! Leave for home mid/late afternoon.
