Travelling to Alton with a stop enroute we join the  steam train on the 'Watercress Line' (the Mid Hants railway), in the beautiful Hampshire countryside to Alresford. After time for lunch in Alresford we go to the remarkable Milestones museum of Hampshire Life at Basingstoke in the afternoon. If you are old enough, there is so much you will remember from the  1920s, 30s, 40s: if you are younger, you will be fascinated by the way we lived then.
