Beth Chatto developed this well-known garden on an overgrown wilderness. Today the garden has areas from wet to dry, and sunburnt to shady, all beautifully planted and thriving. There are many unusual plants as well as more familiar varieties. A gardener's delight and the newly refubished tea room is now open. We stop in Colchester at lunchtime before our visit. A short guided tour of the gardens is included.
