Day 1 Monday

Travel to Northumbria, arriving late afternoon at Holiday Inn Gosforth Park. 4 nights stay - dinner, bed & breakfast. Refreshments on arrival.


Day 2 Tuesday

This morning we head to the Rising Sun Country Park, enjoying the outdoors and wildlife it brings. Next, we visit Tynemouth Priory which contains a 13th century chapel, as well as a WW2 gun battery. You can obtain lunch in Tynemouth before the afternoon visit to St Mary’s Lighthouse, reached between the tides via a causeway, where you can access the visitor centre and lighthouse tower to learn more about the island’s history. Stop for tea, coffee or ice cream by the beach at Blyth.

Day 3 Wednesday

We start with a short drive to Northumberlandia, home of ‘The Lady of the North’, a stunning human landform sculpture of a lady, scaling 100ft in height and spanning 1/4 of a mile. We then travel to Morpeth for its weekly Wednesday market, in lunch and exploring the historic market town. After lunch, we stop at Woodhorn Museum, A 19th-century coal mine now a museum & heritage centre. Wander the grounds or museum. Next, we move to Seaton Deleval Hall where you can stroll around its gardens or see its dramatic halls as we finish off our day.

Day 4 Thursday

Today we visit the Maritime Centre at Newbiggin, you can see the exhibits, or enjoy a walk by the beach at this seaside town. Next, we drive via Walkworth Castle to Alnwick where you an obtain lunch and wander the Historic town, a stone’s throw from Alnwick castle. We then drive to Rothbury where we have a quick stop, before visiting Belsay Hall, Castle & Gardens, regarded as the first British country house to be built new in Greek revival style. We return to the hotel for our final evening.

After breakfast we leave our hotel and head for home.

We feature a host of interesting attractions, including Northumberlandia, ‘The Lady of the North’, Tynemouth Priory, a former 13th century chapel, as well as a WW2 gun battery and the grand Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens in the heart of Northumberland’s countryside.
