5 nights dinner, bed & breakfast. Excursions

Boat trip to Garinish Island. Visit to Waterford Cyrstal

Ferry crossings Pembroke - Rosslare

Day 1 Sunday

Arrive in Ireland via the Pembroke- Rosslare ferry, then drive to the 3
star Treacy’s Hotel in Waterford for dinner, bed & breakfast

D

Day 2 Monday

Into Co. Cork at Youghal. A momentous event took place here at
Myrtle Grove, the home of Sir Walter Raleigh – the first potatoes were planted in
Europe. Lunchtime halt in Kinsale, where locally landed fish are cooked in some of
Ireland’s best restaurants. Drive to Clonakilty in the afternoon. 3 nights dinner, bed &
breakfast in the Quality Hotel and time to do some sightseeing

B, D

Day 3 Tuesday

Rosscarbery Bay, seen early on the morning’s drive, is an
introduction to more stunning coastal scenery. We enjoy the scenery of Bantry Bay
where a memorable boat trip is available to Garinish Island (included) for the Italian
Gardens. A remarkable collection of flowers, shrubs and trees flourish in an equable
climate. There are decorative Greek and Italian temples and a Martello Tower dating
from the Napoleonic Wars

B, D

Day 4 Wednesday

To Cork for shopping and sightseeing in Ireland’s second city,
which is, incidentally, supposedly the most hospitable place in Ireland. Visit Cobh
(pronounced ‘cove’) as well. This major port on one of the world’s biggest natural
harbours has played an important role in Ireland’s history; some 2 ½ million people
emigrated from here to America between 1848 and 1850. It was also the last port of
call for ‘Titanic’ on its ill-fated transatlantic journey.

B, D

Day 5 Thursday

Back across the country stopping at Blarney Castle for the Blarney
Stone (if you climb to the top), the woollen mill and some splendid gardens. There will
also be time for our included visit to Waterford Crystal too on the way for another
night at Treacy’s Hotel with dinner, bed & breakfast

B, D

Day 6 Friday

Early breakfast, then the morning ferry to Pembroke and home.

B

B=Breakfast, D=Dinner

You can look forward to the most ‘exotic and sensuous’ parts of Ireland, according to eminent travel writers, Bantry Bay and

Glengariff being widely regarded as the most beautiful place in the country. A great coastline, one of the world’s largest natural

harbours (Cork), one of the most hospitable cities (Cork), one of the must-see attractions (Blarney Stone), probably the best

collection of restaurants in an Irish town (Kinsale) – it all adds up to a fabulous holiday

QUALITY HOTEL, CLONAKILTY

www.qualityclonakiltyhotel.com. Large, comfortable bedrooms

characterise this high class hotel and, should you need them, you’ll even

find a fridge and an ironing board to go with all the usual facilities. It is on

the edge of a pretty little town west of Cork. There is a lift, swimming pool,

Lanningans Restaurant and Oscar’s Bar where entertainment is provided

quite frequently.
